The Real Thing....

QUALITY. AUTHENTICITY.

These two things are so important when choosing decor.

With the advent of giant, discount home decor stores, comes waves of wall and shelf decorating with cut-tin wall hangings, statues, faux marble book ends and what-not.

But bringing in a few key pieces that are of exceptional quality, rather than several mass-produced items will have a beautiful impact on your arrangement.

A hand-made framed shell wall hanging, has giant impact -- way more than several items filled with small shells around the room. Yes, it is a bigger investment, but try to resist several small purchases and set aside a budget to put toward "Ker-pow" decor.

Whether your budget is one that can accomodate a purchase of a one of a kind sculpture, or a second -hand solid wood piece, give careful consideration to that impulsive purchase and instead ask yourself, will it enhance the over-all landscape of the room, or will it clutter it?

We are experts at helping you sort out decisions such as these. We can do as little as shop for you, or put together a comprehensive plan.

Off to be creative!

** From Coral Skies to Walls.... **

....this color is invigorating!

It's a "color of the year" with a major paint manufacturer, and there is a reason it is desirable. It's not as in-your-face as orange, and not as feminine as pink. Just the right balance.

Sometimes, you might just be craving something yummy....a hue to add to your environment that is sunny, but not too bold. With neutrals, such as black and white, buckskin, natural woods and even other bold colors such as lime or tangerine, this color soothes the craving for sweet melon tones that liven up the home.

If you're looking for a warm-toned color that you can introduce in splashes or in bold statements....look no further than Coral.

WOOD.

It's natural, it's organic, and it adds warmth to your space.

The trend of painting wood furniture has turned out downright gorgeous,  creative pieces, there is no doubt.  Many talented designers,  artists,  and DIY'ers have put elbow grease,  milk paint,  and probably some blood, sweat and tears into some beautiful projects.

But, wood, with it's inherent warm hues and grains, gives a room that living element. The nature of this material brings richness to any design style - modern or traditional.

We believe you can mix wood and painted wood, but a room needs to have at least one wood feature to keep from feeling too synthetic.

We look for pieces for you that enhance your style, but that make sure we add some robust wood elements to the scheme.

If you ever feel your home is lacking something it could be wood!

....Winter Blues....

DON'T FIGHT THE BLUES...

Once the Christmas red, green, silver and gold is stored into storage bins, our homes are sometimes left with an empty cold space untitled with gifts of the celebration.

This is the perfect time to match that flickering fire with shades of cool, icy, blue.  Invite the hint of spring by blending blue with other colors such as grey, green, yellow and splashes of soft red tones, passing through the entire color spectrum.

Keep in mind that blue is black's fraternal twin and in many cases they may appear to be it's identical sibling. But because of the base color component, your options open as the value lightens or darkens, become brighter or dimmer.

Don't be afraid to use Navy blue on walls, counter tops or floors. Blue being a primary color can find its way around the color spectrum and blend, blend, blend. Do yourself a favor and try "Naval" by Sherman Williams with any color that your sweet heart or sweet-heart desires. There will be no conflict here when you want to introduce it to your beautiful wood  (of any type) trim and furnishing or using elements such as metal and stone to compliment the color shades.

Let the colors of nature inspire you! Instead of climbing under your blankets and drowning in depression because you have no bright sunshine, embrace those cool colors to begin the decorating process.
Watch the blending of how blue fills the
sky and surrounds itself with pale shades. Take those magnificent colors and bring them into your home. You'll be surprised how they light up even the darkest days.

Let the dazzle being! Take charge of your space with your beautiful blues.

Who's ready to GLAM UP!

In this season of LOVE....

...we are in LOVE with METALLIC, SHIMMERING walls that exude Romance and Glamour!

You can feel luxurious in a room wrapped in this textured wallpaper. Think of your half bath , where guests would feel special just entering through the door.

From stunning custom homes to a rental cottage, we can create an alchemy of beauty with warm metallic touches.

We recently visited Vignette, a home consignment shop in Sonoma,
and purchased an extraordinarily large brass lamp that adds an anchor of tawny richness to a great room.  Paired with lots of white, black, navy or even yellow, a room can be a stunner.

We would love to give you this pampered star style!

*** "I'M ALL ABOUT THE BASE (board)..." ***

I was pondering a single design upgrade you could do to a room that would instantly bring polish.

I've decided that one thing is... Changing out your BASEBOARDS to lovely 4 1/2" - 5 1/2" high .

This small but significant change will immediately increase the style factor in any room.

                           BEFORE

AFTER

There are so many tricks you can use (or have your designer and contractor use) to create a taller, more architectural look.

Or if your house is more on the modern or contemporary side, even flat molding in wider slat will "finish" off the look of the room adding instant aesthetic appeal.

One of our favorite looks incorporates marries art and engineering...

Beauty within the home is within reach! We look forward to giving your space that look you are craving.

*** BLACK IS BACK! ***

Hi all, its Shelly.

I've always been a proponent of using at least one element of black in a room; it has a polished look and has an anchoring effect to the space.

But as of late, black has been emerging as a strong color, if you will, and and I'm a huge fan.

If you pop your head in for a glance in any home interior store these days, you'll quickly get an idea of the emerging popularity of decor items with black finishes.

A stylish black framed mirror, aa cocktail table, or collection of black candle stick holders or ANYTHING black leather, will give a dash of elegance to even a casual room.

I just purchased two large, black picture frames that also have black mat boards. I selected two photos to keep with the sea them, and Ill be enlarging them I'll hang them closely together and. "Voila"...they'll act as a "collection" that will have big impact!

No matter what your home's style, black can fit with your scheme. Try a number of things until it feels just right!
