FALL in love with your space ....
...the sun is slinking lower in the sky, the mornings are brisk, and you may have found yourself looking for socks and slippers when you swing out of bed. (For us Northern Californians, we're getting blessed with Indian Summer!)
What do you want to wake up to this season? For me, I could live with a "beachy" environment year round, but for those of you who crave that warmth of the fall colors, this is for you!
Even if your color scheme is cool tones, you can easily introduce those autumn hues into your space to update it and give it an inviting glow.
For instance - if you have used a lot of BLUE in your home, one of the easiest tricks to inject instant warmth is to choose the color from the opposite side of the color wheel: ORANGE. Blue and orange are complementary colors, (not as in, compliment: 'Hey Blue, you look great today') but as in COMPLEMENT - "forming a satisfactory or balanced whole."
Use trims, textures and bits of mixed color to achieve a harmony of cools and warms.
Take cues from nature (think blue sky with rich orange sunset infused clouds.) Use unusual or unexpected objects, like a blue pumpkin!
Thread strings of orange berries or beads and drape around the edge of an ornate blue bowl or wallpaper an inexpensive lampshade in warm pumpkin-toned paper.
The ideas are endless.
