50 Shades of........White...

In the past, you may have been tempted and seduced....by the paint color samples aisle of your local home center. But have you ever noticed the plethora of shades of white paint?

If you love your space "bright and white" and you want it look intentional and not like you just left the "track home white" chosen by the home builder, there are are some things that can be done to ensure it looks like you meant to use white on purpose.

Adding loads of texture to your room is a sure fire way to give an aesthetically pleasing white palette. One of my favorite wall applications is still a swathe of Venetian plaster, and in a marshmallow white over a neutral cream or grey, the overlapping swipes of plaster and the buffed shine show off the character of the layers.

Using a stark white serpentine chandelier in a dining area, with a backdrop of a white-on-white striped walls, alternating matte and gloss stripes is a striking way to show off your intended white environment.

Adding layers of pillows in varying white and off white textures - nubby chenille, sateen, microfiber, feather, sequins - all give the eyes a break and a treat. A lamp base, wrapped in white cording, reflecting in a white framed mirrored tray gives multiple dimensions of white.

Crisp white linens, white-washed furniture contrasted with dark wood floors and blocks of dark grey accents play off one another and accentuate an intentional pale scheme...

Imagine the impact that can be had from such a "non" color!  So, lighten up - white can be bold or romantic; pure of smoldering.  I can help you decide which look you crave!
