I am sure many of you have stood in a home improvement warehouse paint department at one time or another contemplating a new paint color for your bedroom. I've heard many people say they gravitate to dark, rich colors, such as eggplant or coffee, but are so scared it will be "too dark."
Bedrooms are meant to be intimate and cozy, and are also for getting a restful night's sleep. Having a 'light, bright and cheery' bedroom may seem appealing, but I am here to tell you that a darker color in your sleeping quarters can actually give the darkening you need to begin to wind down from the days activity.
Whatever color soothes you, whatever color you are drawn to, is available in a deeper shade. If you love blue, navy blue can still give you that pleasing appeal, but taking it down a few shades can evoke a calming, inviting respite from the rest of the home.
Now, if you are really chicken, and just cannot commit to all your walls in a dark color, consider painting your ceiling. I can recommend several tricks and custom ways to treat your ceiling to give it depth and interest rather than just a flat painted rectangle. We could really play up architectural elements, if there are any, or we can embellish and create our own.
I help you to determine that perfect shade that suits you, and then I work with professional painters that give your project that polished look.
If you've been holding off on your bedroom project because you have paint-color paralysis, I am available for consultation. Your fear of the 'dark' will be cured!
Till then -- I am off to make something pretty!
